How to Get Soft Feet While You Sleep

Dry flakey feet are no fun, and they can hurt when they crack. Whether your feet are sore from winter boots or summer sandals there is a cure for your poor tired feet.

It’s important to keep up with foot care not just for looks. Those cracks and peeling skin can become infected. We don’t know how important our feet are until they start hurting.

Sleeping seems like a drag sometimes, it takes up almost a third of your life! But you can use all that time to soften up those dry, chapped feet.

Without sleep, we cannot function. Sleeping well is a skill that sometimes requires preparation. Our all-natural pillows can help you align your neck and spine for optimal sleep and rejuvenation.

Foot preparation for sleep

When showering or washing your feet it is best to stay on the cooler side. Water that is too hot can dry your skin and strip the natural protective oils too thoroughly. Showering for more than 5 minutes is also considered a no-no by dermatologists because it can make your skin overly dry.

It is ok to use a very fine pumice stone or a fine-grained foot file during your shower to remove dead skin and thick callouses. But be gentle, so you don’t damage feet further. The goal is to leave protective healthy skin while removing dead skin cells. Use a moisturizing cleanser on your feet, avoid harsh soaps to help keep your feet healthy.

Make sure you moisturize your feet right after you wash them. If you do have open cracks on your feet it is best to cover them with liquid bandages to keep the wounds clean.

Try to wear natural fiber on your feet like cotton, or bamboo rather than synthetic materials. This will help your feet smell less and avoid athletes foot fungus infections.

And check out our all-natural buckwheat pillows with natural bamboo covers that are antibacterial for your skin.

Overnight foot treatments

While you slumber make your feet soft and smooth by putting on foot cream and socks. Overnight foot masks and salves are great as long as you wear some socks, so you don’t get your sheets all greasy!

Homemade DIY Foot Treatments

It isn’t hard to make your own home overnight foot creams using easy to find ingredients and it can save you money. Some ingredients you can try:

  • Almond oil or Coconut oil
  • Raw cocoa butter or Mango butter or Shea butter
  • A few drops of essential oil like tea tree, lavender, peppermint for soothing
  • Manuka honey has antimicrobial properties and can be added

Blend all the ingredients into a cream. Or take your favorite plain unscented lotion and add peppermint oil and perhaps a drop or two of tea tree or eucalyptus oil to make a soothing menthol foot treatment.

And if you don’t want to make your own there are plenty of organic and natural foot treatments to choose from.
