Questions & Answers
What is the difference between the Bamboo and Cooling covers?
Both feature our signature Star Constellation design and are removable for washing. Here is how to choose:
- Quilted Bamboo: Best for texture lovers. It is thick (2-3x thicker than standard cases), ultra-soft, breathable, and provides a luxurious, cushioned feel.
- Cool-Touch: Best for hot sleepers. It is engineered to feel instantly cool against the skin and actively draws heat away to keep you comfortable all night.
Will this pillow attract bugs?
No. We use a rigorous 4-stage cleaning process for our buckwheat hulls. This removes dust, debris, and potential food sources for pests, ensuring your pillow is hypoallergenic, clean, and breathable.
Is the pillow adjustable? (How do I change the height?)
Yes! We intentionally overstuff every pillow. Both the inner and outer cases feature durable YKK zippers. When you receive your pillow, we recommend unzipping it and removing some hulls to find your perfect neck alignment. Save the extra hulls in a bag to refresh your pillow later!
Is it noisy or too hard?
Buckwheat pillows are naturally firmer than foam, which is why they are excellent for spinal alignment and neck pain. While hulls do make a rustic "crunching" sound, our Premium models use extra-thick, padded covers (especially the Quilted Bamboo) which significantly muffles the sound compared to cheaper brands.
Why don't you accept returns?
We operate on a Hygiene-First Guarantee. Because pillows are intimate bedding items, accepting returns would mean re-selling used items or creating massive waste. By not accepting returns, we guarantee that the pillow you receive is 100% brand new, sanitary, and has never been slept on by a stranger.
How do I clean the pillow?
Do not wash the buckwheat hulls.
1. Unzip the covers and pour the hulls into a dry container/bag.
2. Machine wash the inner and outer covers on a gentle cycle.
3. To refresh the hulls, simply place them in sunlight for a few hours. Read our full cleaning guide →
Which size should I get?
We recommend the Japanese Plus Size (14" × 20") for most sleepers. It is the traditional size for buckwheat pillows because it keeps the heavy filling concentrated directly under your neck for the best support. The Standard Size (20" × 26") is available if you prefer the look of a traditional American bed pillow.
The PineTales Difference

|---|---|---|
| What's Inside |
Often contain leftover bits of flour and dust. This isn't just messy—it can attract bugs over time.
|
Cleaned in four separate stages to ensure the hulls are pure, breathable, and free of anything that could attract pests.
|
| "Loft" Adjustments |
Many use flimsy hidden zippers that snag and break easily, making it impossible to adjust the pillow's height (loft).
|
Uses a durable, visible YKK zipper that's built to last. It's easy to add or remove hulls to perfect your pillow's loft.
|
| Amount of Filling |
Often arrive under-filled, forcing you to buy more hulls separately to get the support you need.
|
Intentionally overstuffed so you have more than enough filling. You can remove hulls to make it perfect, not buy more.
|
| How The Cover Feels |
Covers are often made from thin, cheap fabric that feels rough and doesn't hold up well to use or washing.
|
A thick, high-quality cover that is soft to the touch and durable enough to last for years, even with regular washing.
|
| Long-Lasting Support |
Hulls get crushed and go flat within a year or two. Some use “pre-polished” hulls which are even weaker and break down faster.
|
Uses whole, unprocessed hulls that don't crush easily. This provides consistent, firm support that lasts for many years.
|
| Expert-Approved Design |
Generic designs that don't consider proper therapeutic support, often making neck and back alignment worse.
|
Customers often report that their chiropractors and physical therapists recommended our pillows for proper spine alignment.
